Hyperbaric chambers for gyms and recovery studios in Australia

Why gyms and recovery studios are adding hyperbaric, which chamber suits a busy floor, and how to plan the space, pricing and staffing.

Hyperbaric chambers for gyms and recovery studios guide cover

Recovery has become one of the fastest-growing parts of the fitness industry. Ice baths, saunas and compression are now common. Hyperbaric chambers are the next step, and they're still rare enough to make your facility stand out. Here's how to think about adding one.

Why gyms and studios add hyperbaric

  • Differentiation. Give members something they can't get at the gym down the road.
  • A new revenue line. Sell sessions as casual visits, packs or a premium membership tier.
  • Retention. Recovery services give members another reason to keep coming back between training sessions.
  • Fits alongside what you have. A chamber sits naturally next to saunas, cold plunges and compression in a recovery zone.

Which chamber suits a commercial floor?

Seat Duo: two massage chairs, a 43-inch TV and built-in oxygen masks for each seat, up to 2.0 ATA. Two members per session means twice the throughput from every time slot. Our recommended choice for gyms.

Seat One: a one-person seated hard shell with a massage chair and TV. A smaller footprint for studios with less space.

Hard Shell 2.0: a premium lying chamber with touch-screen controls and intercom, popular in clinics and boutique studios.

Pro 2.0: our highest-pressure soft chamber. A lower-cost way to launch hyperbaric in a smaller room.

Space and power

Seated hard-shell chambers need a dedicated area (the Seat Duo system needs about 4.0 × 2.5 m of floor space) and a dedicated electrical circuit. Soft chambers run on a standard power point in a treatment room. We check your floor space, power and delivery route before you order.

Pricing your sessions

Session prices vary by location, chamber type and session length. Work out what your market supports, then test packs and membership add-ons. As a simple illustration, one chamber running 5 sessions a day at $80, 26 days a month, generates about $10,400 a month in gross session revenue, or double that with two people per session in a Seat Duo. Try your own numbers with the calculator on our For Business page.

Illustration only. Revenue depends on your pricing, demand and utilisation, and doesn't include costs such as staff, power, maintenance, insurance or finance.

Staffing and safety

Modern chambers are simple to run, with touch screens and preset session modes. Plan for:

  • staff trained in operation, cleaning and daily checks
  • a short screening process so members with health conditions check with their doctor first
  • clear rules about what can be taken into the chamber
  • a cleaning routine between sessions
